Child Care Aware® of America and Child Care Works have joined with CLASP, NWLC, NAEYC, NAFCC, NBCDI, YWCA, and ZERO TO THREE for national call-in day for child care.
We need you to call your representatives and request that the appropriations chairman increase funding for the Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG) by $1.4 billion in the FY 2018 appropriations bill.
Without this additional funding, states will not be able to fully implement the safety, health, and other reforms in the CCDBG Act of 2014 while maintaining the current number of children served. Congress needs to hear about the importance of funding direct child care assistance through CCDBG from voters like you!
The call only takes 2 minutes! Follow our step-by-step guide below:
- Find your representative.
- Call the Capitol Hill switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask to be connected to your Representative's office.
- Personalize the short script below:
Hi, I’m __________ and I’m a constituent of Rep. ___________.
I’m calling to ask him/her to make an appropriations request to the chairman for $1.4 billion for CCDBG implementation.
This funding will ensure that states can provide all children with high-quality, safe, affordable child care – and that families don’t lose their access to subsidies that help them afford this critical care.
I’m passionate about this issue because _________________. [I’m a parent of a small child, I’m an educator, early learning is critical for children at this stage of development, etc.]
Thank you so much for your time.
If you're leaving a message on voice mail: Hi, I’m __________ and I’m a constituent of Rep. ___________. I’m calling to ask him/her to make an appropriations request to the chairman before April 6th for $1.4 billion for CCDBG implementation to make sure all children can get the quality child care and early learning experiences they need to succeed.
Thanks for all you do!
