Emergency Preparedness Funding Announced for CCR&R Agencies

May 02, 2016

be prepared-1Child Care Aware® of America (CCAoA) is pleased to announce a new funding opportunity for Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) agencies—CCR&Rs as Community Resilience Hubs. This initiative, administered through CCAoA’s emergency preparedness team aims to increase the capabilities of communities working with child care centers and family child care providers in preparing, responding, and recovering from natural disasters and emergencies.

CCR&Rs are a constant presence in local communities and serve as a trusted resource for child care providers and families. As such, they are in a unique position to assist during times of crisis and disaster. Through their valuable networks, they are also able to provide assistance and resources that will greatly aid a community’s ability to recover from a disaster.

This project will bolster CCR&Rs capacity to serve as resilience hubs within their community. Over the two-year project period, a myriad of new trainings, resources, publications, and tools will be developed that are designed to better increased CCR&Rs knowledge and awareness of preparedness, response, and recovery issues. Through the lessons learned, materials developed, and knowledge gained during this project, CCR&Rs will be better equipped to play an active role in preparedness, response, and recovery within their communities.

Three projects will be awarded through this emergency preparedness funding opportunity. Applicants in the following states are eligible to apply: Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and South Dakota.
