Statement On the Passing of Gwen Morgan, Child Care Pioneer

September 08, 2015

It is with a sad heart that we announce the passing of Gwen Morgan, legendary early childhood education advocate and child care systems pioneer. She died in her home on Friday, September 4, 2015 at the age of 90.

Morgan’s entire life and career were spent actively advocating for the betterment of children’s early education and care, and without her Child Care Aware® of America may not even exist today.

Lynette Fraga, Ph.D., had this to say on the passing of Morgan, “Gwen was a true legend, and her legacy will be felt for generations to come. We consider her a founder of CCR&R agencies – and it’s because of her that we’re able to do the work we do today. Her contributions have made a significant and lasting impact and we are grateful for her commitment and contributions to the field. All of our lives were made better by her work.”
