Election Debrief: Child Care Advocacy in the Trump Administration

November 23, 2016

Last week, Child Care Aware® of America’s policy team hosted a webinar that provided a debrief on the 2016 election. The presentation included details on key staff for the incoming Trump Administration, the breakdown of the membership of the 115th Congress, and the results of numerous elections at the state level. Our team also reviewed President-Elect Trump’s child care proposal, which was introduced in September, and outlined potential legislation that may support child care initiatives next year.

In addition, the presentation highlighted the importance of advocacy and discussed the way forward for our Child Care Works movement. In particular, the policy team emphasized that now is the time to act as the national conversation and interest on quality, affordable child care continues to grow.

As the country transitions to a new Administration, Child Care Aware® of America will continue to engage key policymakers, both existing and incoming, as well as the new cabinet secretaries and senior Administration staff overseeing child care initiatives and programs.

You can watch the full webinar below. In the meantime, have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
