August 17, 2022

ARLINGTON, VA, August 17, 2022 —  Child Care Aware® of America (CCAoA) announced that Chief Executive Officer Dr. Lynette M. Fraga is leaving the organization early in 2023.

LynetteFraga-Headshot-2020Over the past decade, Lynette has done an exemplary job of leading CCAoA and establishing the organization as the nation’s leading voice for child care.  She is a strong advocate for our members, families, providers and children,” said Taran Schneider, President of the CCAoA Board of Directors and Executive Director of Healthy Child Care Colorado.

“it has been a privilege and honor to serve as the CEO of Child Care Aware of America,” said Fraga. “I am planning to leave at a time when the organization is incredibly strong, well-positioned for ongoing and significant impact, with exceptional staff and a solid financial footing so that I can pursue new professional challenges.”

Under Fraga’s leadership, CCAoA expanded its work to serve and support military families. It deepened its policy impact through high-impact federal, state and local advocacy efforts, meaningful media campaigns, strong coalition partnerships, and deepened relationships with a committed membership of Child Care Resource and Referral agencies (CCR&Rs), family advocates and the early care workforce. Fraga led a significant expansion of CCAoA’s research and technology capacity, combining an evidence-based narrative with compelling human stories.

Fraga directed a successful effort to make CCAoA’s Board of Directors more representative of the diversity of America; broadening it with leaders from the academic, philanthropic and business sectors, while advancing the organization’s goals of equity and inclusivity.

“CCAoA is strong, healthy and financially sound, with a remarkable team in place that will continue to build on Dr. Fraga’s legacy and many accomplishments,” said Dr. Renée Boynton-Jarrett, Vice President of the Board and Associate Professor at Boston Medical Center. “We are committed to a smooth and transparent transition and to finding the best possible candidate for this important role.”

CCAoA deeply appreciates the decade of dedication and service by Fraga and wishes her continued success in her new endeavors. The organization is launching a national search, led by Board members Schneider and Boynton-Jarrett, to find its next CEO.
