Child Care Aware® of America Awarded $5 Million to Advance an Equitable Child Care System

December 07, 2023

ARLINGTON, VA, December 7, 2023 – Child Care Aware® of America today announced that they have been recognized by one of the country’s largest charitable organizations, Yield Giving. Founded by MacKenzie Scott, Yield is named after the belief in adding value by giving up control. The fund aims to grant money to nonprofits to allocate where they believe is most needed, which is a philosophy now known as trust-based philanthropy. CCAoA is honored to join the ranks of these prestigious organizations as a grantee of $5 million.

This grant illustrates Yield’s commitment to and recognition of America’s child care system, as well as an acknowledgement of CCAoA’s longstanding reputation as the leading voice for advancing a child care system that effectively and equitably serves all families. CCAoA’s latest addition to our research series, Catalyzing Growth: Using Data to Change Child Care, suggests that investing in child care is good policy; this grant enables CCAoA to continue supporting the sector at a time when available spots in child care programs fall well short of the need.

This gift is transformational. As we at CCAoA reflect on our successes and usher in a period of growth, this funding empowers us to act with agility and craft implementation strategies that are responsive to the child care field’s ever-evolving needs. This gift is a vote of confidence in CCAoA's commitment to advancing child care in underserved communities as well as delivering innovative programs, timely research and effective advocacy to promote a high-quality, equitable child care system.
