Sesame Street in Communities Professional Development

For more than 50 years, Sesame Street has worked to build stronger, smarter and kinder communities. Now, they’re coming to your neighborhood. Sesame Street in Communities, together with Child Care Aware® of America, is excited to provide members with free resources for parents and providers working to get every child in their lives school ready. 

We have embarked on a year-long professional development project for Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) staff working with families and providers. Participants will explore a variety of resources across trauma-informed topics and meet together to dig in deeper, share examples, and discuss how this impacts their work.   

Bert’s Buddies (Family Focus) will use interactive stories, games, articles, and printable resources, to learn strategies to embed assets related to Caring and Sharing, Language and Developmental Milestones to the work they do everyday! 

Ernie's Educators (Provider Focus) will enroll in an online course related to parent engagement and school readiness. Rooted in Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework, the five units of study will focus on ways to engage families in student success. 

This work began in October 2019 and will wrap up in October 2020.
