The decision to send a sick child home can be a difficult one for providers to make. They have to balance the needs of working parents while also looking out for the health of other children and staff in their programs. At Child Care Aware® of America, we believe that it's important to keep children in care when it's safe, and just as important to create a comforting environment for children who aren’t feeling well.

Presenters:

  1. Explain the importance of inclusion and exclusion policies related to infectious disease in child care
  2. Identify criteria for which infants and preschool age children should be permitted to be included or excluded from child care
  3. Describe the common infectious disease phases that require exclusion to reduce the spread of illness in child care
