For more than 50 years, Sesame Street has worked to build stronger, smarter and kinder communities. Now, they’re coming to your neighborhood. Sesame Street in Communities, together with Child Care Aware® of America, is excited to provide free resources for parents and providers working to get every child in their lives school ready. We are recruiting Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) staff serving families and providers to participate in one of two cohorts that use Sesame resources for school readiness. CCAoA Members can sign up to participate today!
Bert’s Buddies – (for CCR&R staff working directly with families)
Working as partners with families to secure early childhood services, Bert’s Buddies will gain access to free resources across trauma informed topics. With interactive stories, games, articles and printable resources, members of this cohort will learn about the ways to embed assets related to Caring and Sharing, Language and Developmental Milestones into the work they do everyday.
Throughout the year, participants will receive email updates, access to webinars and contact from your friends at Sesame Street on how to make the resources work for you! Burt’s Buddies will be invited to apply strategies and assets to conversations with families, and then share innovative ways that resources were presented and used.
Ernie’s Educators – (for CCR&R staff working directly with child care providers)
CCR&R Specialists who support Early Childhood Providers with technical assistance, coaching or professional development have a unique opportunity to shape the worlds of children in early childhood care and education settings. CCR&R-Early Childhood Provider partnerships bolster efforts in early learning settings to boost the potential of children in care, as meaningful moments with daily conversations and everyday interactions occur. The opportunities are endless, especially if children are encouraged and supported outside of the classroom too.
Members of Ernie’s Educators will enroll in an online course related to school readiness and parental engagement. Over the course of five units rooted in Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework, participants will study ways to engage families in student success. Ernie’s Educators will alternate lessons crafted by videos, resources and online game that can be applied to classroom contexts with children and their early childhood teachers.
No matter the cohort, members of both Bert’s Buddies and Ernie’s Educators will:
When we really understand children’s lives, we can craft ways to make learning relevant and exciting. Bert’s Buddies and Ernie’s Educators will learn and apply best practices for making children the shared focus of parents and early educators, with customized games, activities and printable resources. Together with families and providers, you can prepare children for school success. Be a part of this exciting partnership by signing up today!
