Should I stay or should I go?

Not only are these catchy song lyrics, these are common questions you may ask yourself following an emergency or disaster event that affects you, your program, neighborhood, or community.

Different types of emergencies constitute different reactions – if you smell smoke or hear a fire alarm, evacuate quickly! However, if you learn of a tornado watch or warning, you should head indoors, to your safe place. Knowing when to stay and when to go can be confusing.
