Provider Appreciation Day 2023

Written by Meg Biallas | March 21, 2023

Communities across the country are getting ready to celebrate child care providers on May 12, also known as Provider Appreciation Day®

While there are so many ways to celebrate (check out the official celebration toolkit with print resources, event ideas, social graphics and more), one of the most powerful ways we can recognize these indispensable professionals is by recording a 60-second video of gratitude thanking providers in our community and sharing how child care has helped you and/or your community.

Need inspiration? Here’s what some community leaders and families are saying:

“Providers are the lifeblood of child care. Child care, specifically for the military, is both a quality of life and mission readiness factor. Providers allow service [members] to go to work every day to help defend our nation knowing their child are being developed and supervised by caring individuals.”

- Fran Jamison, Chief of Military Programs and Strategy, Child Care Aware of America

" I want to thank all the Indiana providers I work with who I know have such full plates and still are always striving to create the best, healthiest, most loving environments. You […] are inspiring.”

- Megan McKinney Cooper, Communications Director, Jump IN For Healthy Kids

Join Fran, Megan and others who are taking a moment to say #ThankYouChildCare. Here’s how you can get started:

  1. Visit the #ThankYouChildCare Video Portal: Thank Your Provider – Provider Appreciation Day
  2. Review the 3 prompts to help you prepare your message.
  3. Record your message by Friday, April 7.

Even if you don’t have children who are in child care, you can still speak to the value of these under-appreciated professionals who are so important to families, communities and the economy. As Fran Jamison said, “child care really is a workforce multiplier.”

When you record a message, you acknowledge the value of child care professionals as educators, caring and trusted adults, and professional brain architects of our youngest learners. Video messages will be featured on CCAoA’s website, social media and more.
