Child Care Aware® of America Releases 2015 Annual Report

Arlington, VA – Child Care Aware® of America (CCAoA) released its 2015 Annual Report today. The report shares CCAoA’s milestones from 2015, following the passage of the Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG) and introduction of the Child C.A.R.E. Act, new legislation introduced last month. The importance of accessible, affordable, quality child care was validated as a national priority in the President’s State of the Union address in January, and the dialogue around finding solutions to the cost of child care for American families continues as a major issue for Presidential candidates in this election year.

In 2015, CCAoA introduced a new, dynamic strategic plan for 2016-2019 focused on ensuring every family in the United States has access to high quality, affordable child care. The strategic plan is based on three primary pillars—public policy and advocacy, membership, and family and community engagement.

Highlights from the annual report include the following:

• Working collaboratively with policymakers to explore new strategies and solutions to the cost of child care, CCAoA continues to provide technical assistance to states as they explore CCDBG implementation;
• Continuing to partner with a national network of Child Care Resource and Referral agencies (CCR&Rs) to serve as the nation’s leading voice for child care, helping more than 860,000 families find child care solutions each year;
• Charging child care providers, members, policymakers, and families to implement change nationwide.
