Lead is poisonous and can cause permanent damage to exposed children. There’s no safe level of lead in a child’s body. When lead-based paint deteriorates, chips and dust settle onto surfaces children can easily reach, such as window sills and floors. Children may be exposed when they ingest or inhale contaminated dust (even if the particles are too small to see), but this exposure is preventable!
